Welcome to O.G Buckeye
The late Dick Baker had a dream and a goal.
Recognizing the value of good
dogs in Police Work, he believed that the Medina County Sheriff's
Department
should have its own training academy. Thirty years ago he founded O.G.
Buckeye Schutzhund Club. He and his wife Louise, provided the training
grounds on their Sharon Township farm. The club was chartered in the
state
of Ohio as a non-profit educational-sports organization. Its sole
purpose
is to educate the public on the proper maintenance and handling of
working
dogs, to educate on the proper breeding, to promote training and to
promote
the Schutzhund sport.
In 1982, OG Buckeye became affiliated with the United Schutzhund Clubs
of
America (USA) just shortly after the death of Dick Baker.
Today, Dick's dream is carried on by training director, Mark Scarberry.
The
club has grown since 1972, however, the goals, the dreams, and the
memory of
Dick and Louise Baker will always remain a part of OG Buckeye's
tradition.
